Dr. Schuldheisz to discuss Sleep Disorders

Do you have difficulty sleeping? If you do, you are certainly not alone. According to the American Sleep Association, between 50 and 70 million Americans have a sleep disorder and find it difficult, if not impossible, to get the recommended amount of sleep each night.

This month’s “Dine with the Docs” program features Sandy Schuldheisz, M.D., (“Dr. Sandy”) Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Disorders specialist, who will discuss sleep disorders.

The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 10, in the Conference Center at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital on the basement level of the East Tower.  A complimentary dinner will be provided by Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Chatters Café at 5:30 p.m. and the program will follow at 6:30 p.m. Lake Cumberland Sleep Disorder Center will also be on hand to provide information on both inpatient and home sleep studies available to help diagnose various sleep disorders.

Sleep disorders exist at every age level, from infants to elderly adults. The consequences of sleep disorders are diverse, serious and can be catastrophic. Dr. Schuldheisz will discuss common sleep disorders, symptoms and diagnosis of sleep disorders and the latest treatment options available.  A question and answer session will follow the program.

If you have difficulty sleeping, if you have a loved one who experiences symptoms of sleep disorders, or if you would just like to learn more about sleep disorders, this month’s program will be of interest to you.

Dr. Schuldheisz is graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine.  She completed her internship and residency at Michigan State University and a Fellowship at the University of Kentucky.  Dr. Schuldheisz is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and is Board Certified in Internal, Pulmonary, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine.  She is a member of the National COPD Advisory Council and has been on the medical staff at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital since April, 2005.
