How does your weight affect your feet? Find out at Monday’s POP meeting.

“My feet hurt! What’s weight got to do with it?” You can find out at the Pounds Off Pulaski (POP) meeting on Monday, March 7. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Conference Center on the basement level of the East Tower.

Special guest speaker for the evening is Pamela Jensen-Stanley, DPM,  Cumberland Foot & Ankle Center, who will discuss how weight affects our feet.  She will review basic gait biomechanics and will discuss the changes that often occur with increased body weight, including: plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, and PTTD.  Dr. Jensen-Stanley will also talk about edema and skin changes that occur as well as common workout foot numbness and traumas.  She will wrap up the program with a discussion of proper foot care and will provide information about proper shoes and inserts.

Dr. Jensen-Stanley earned her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines University, Osteopathic Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine.  She is also a board certified wound care specialist by the American Academy of Wound Management.
