John C. Mobley, M.D., bariatric surgeon, will be the featured speaker for this week’s informational meeting. His presentation, “How to Become (and Stay) the New You,” will provide important information for POP participants to help them get off to a good start on their journey to a healthier lifestyle and a lower body weight. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m.
A Laurel County native, Dr. Mobley received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his internship and a residency in general surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. Dr. Mobley is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and of the American College of Surgeons.
POP meetings are held each Monday evening at the hospital throughout the 12-week challenge. The meetings are designed to provide support, information, and helpful tools to help participants keep on track so they can reach their personal goals. Speakers at the meetings provide information on a variety of subjects from exercise to nutrition lifestyle changes. Participants will also be able to weigh in at the weekly POP meetings to keep track of their progress.
POP participants also earn incentive points that count toward fun prizes provided by community partners for meeting certain goals. Special prizes are also awarded when participants lose 10% of their body weight. At the end of the 12 weeks, the two males and two females who have the highest percentage of weight loss will win cash prizes.
