Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Breaks Ground on $5 Million Imaging Center

Somerset, KY – On August 16, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital (LCRH), part of LifePoint Health®, ceremoniously broke ground on a new imaging center in Somerset, Kentucky. Community leaders, elected officials, healthcare providers and hospital supporters gathered to watch the first dig marking the beginning of construction for the facility, which is made possible by a more than $5 million investment from LifePoint Health.

“We are thrilled to break ground on this new facility, which will provide high quality imaging and women’s services close to home for those we serve,” said Elizabeth Jones, interim chief executive officer and chief operating officer of LCRH. “Today, we take another exciting step in advancing our mission of Making Communities Healthier, and we look forward to seeing this important project come to fruition.”

Lake Cumberland Imaging Center, a department of LCRH, will be a one-level, 10,574-square-foot facility offering a full range of diagnostic imaging services. It will feature new ultrasound equipment, upgraded magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment, an X-ray machine and additional space for future expansion. The imaging center will also feature a separate suite dedicated to women’s imaging services, including mammography, ultrasound and bone density testing.

The imaging center was designed by Central Kentucky Design and will be constructed by Owens Construction. Located in close proximity to LCRH, it will be located at 33 Tower Circle in Somerset and is expected to open in the spring of 2019.

“We are proud to support this important project that will help elevate the level of service and quality of care available to the Somerset community and surrounding areas for years to come,” said Scott Raplee, president of LifePoint Health’s Central Group, of which LCRH is a part. “Initiatives like this help bring our mission of Making Communities Healthier to life in a truly meaningful way, and we are eager to see this beautiful facility begin to take shape over the next several months.”
