April 25, 2019

Somerset, KY-- Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital physicians, leaders, and clinicians gathered recently to celebrate the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award, which was given to Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center. This Center has achieved patient satisfaction rates of 97 percent and a healing rate of 94 percent within 21 median days to heal, for a minimum of two consecutive years. The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services. The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics.

"This award is a testament to the great care and quality services offered by our team of skilled nurses, staff and physicians at the Wound Care Center," said Elizabeth Jones, Chief Operating Officer at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

The Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Leading edge treatments at the Center include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The Center also offers hyberbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.

"To be recognized as a Center of Excellence for another year is truly an honor," said Julie Parent, Director of the Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center. "Every patient that walks through our clinic doors receives exceptional, high-quality care, and this award is a reflection of that. It is a blessing to work alongside these physicians and nurses who treat our patients with such compassion."
