April is National Donate Life Month

Lake Cumberland Regional team members joined Deputy County Judge Executive Dan Price (left) and City Clerk Nick Bradley (right) as they signed a proclamation declaring April as Donate Life Month in Somerset and Pulaski County.

Pictured left to right: Joining in the ceremony were Arlene Mofield, Fran Treado, Susan Ramsey Wilson, Tim Bess, Sheryl Glasscock, Melissa Lancaster and Crystal Cox, all from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.  All participants wore their blue and green, symbolic colors of organ donation.

April has been designated as National Donate Life Month to help raise awareness of the need for individuals to register as organ donors.  There are more than 122,000 individuals in the U.S. and some 900 people in Kentucky who are currently on the waiting list for life-saving organ transplants. LCRH would like to encourage increased discussion of organ and tissue donation in an effort to save lives.  There will be a ceremony of remembrance for donors and donor families at the hospital’s Memory Garden on Wednesday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception.  All interested people are welcome to attend.

The hospital team will also be hosting a donor registration table on April 15 to give individuals the opportunity to learn more about organ donation and perhaps join the register.  April 15 is also Blue and Green Day, when everyone is invited to sport those colors in support of organ donor awareness. information, call 606-678-3264.
