Programs to Strengthen the Heart & Vascular System

At Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, we're taking your recovery to heart.

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital offers medically-supervised programs to improve heart health for the long run. Read more to see which program is right for your patient.  Our experienced exercise physiologists, specialized nurses, and licensed dietitians are dedicated to helping every patient achieve their heart-healthy objectives. Compared with those who don’t, patients who complete the cardiac rehabilitation program have a lower risk of hospital readmission, heart attack and even death.

What commitment does this program of care require?
After a referral from your doctor, a nurse conducts an admission interview.  The nurse will help you identify your goals for the program.  An exercise prescription, based on periodic exercise testing, is used to guide your physical activity.  In addition, counseling is offered for risk factor reduction which includes:  weight reduction, smoking cessation, management of diet and stress, and proper exercise techniques.
