Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Welcomes First Babies of 2026

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is ringing in 2026 with the year’s first bundle of joy. Weighing 3 pounds and 15 ounces and measuring 17 inches, Phoenix was born to Shatrina and Casey, Thursday, Jan. 1st, at 5:23am.
 
Mom Shatrina and Dad Casey are overjoyed to announce the arrival of their beautiful baby boy. Shatrina expressed her excitement, stating, "He is a true blessing from God. Everyone here has gone above and beyond." Originally from Monticello, KY, and Phoenix, AZ, respectively, the couple is eager to embark on this new journey of parenthood.
 
Committed to delivering top-notch, compassionate care to new and expecting parents in the region, Lake Cumberland's Women's Center provides various services to ensure a positive and memorable experience. The center boasts a Level IIB Nursery, six private labor and delivery rooms, and free virtual and in-person prenatal and breastfeeding classes. With pediatric hospitalists, lactation specialists, First48 photography, and more, the Women's Center is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment for mothers and their babies.

Joining the joyous announcement of Phoenix, the first baby born at 5:23 AM, are Madelynn Grace Thomas, who was welcomed by parents Kendra Cooley and Johnathan Thomas at 11:13 AM, weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces and measuring 20 1/4 inches, and Hayes Scott Barron, born to Kaeona Phelps and Tyler Barron at 10:17pm weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce and measuring 19 inches. Additionally, baby boy David Andrew Duckenfield was born to parents Irina Short and Jack Duckenfield, welcoming even more excitement to the day. As these families celebrate their new arrivals, Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is proud to play a role in this special moment, providing exceptional care and support to all parents and their little ones.
