“We take immense pride in helping place new physicians in south-central Kentucky and in celebrating our graduates who will practice across the country,” said Dr. Rainer Oliver, Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. “Graduate medical education enhances the quality of care our hospital system can provide, and Dr. Jenkins, our team, and I feel honored to mentor the next generation of clinicians. We look forward to continuing this work for years to come.”

“From our program, these residents will influence health care in a variety of community settings,” said Dr. Patrick Jenkins, Family Medicine Program Director. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to have mentored them and to have them choose this program. I hope they continue to embrace the calling of the profession.”

The Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residency innovative curriculum incorporates both inpatient and outpatient medical experiences, as well as many sub-specialty rotations and trains residents to develop the broad clinical, teaching, and procedural skill set essential to providing quality, evidence-based care. Both programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and are dedicated to educating the next generation of internal medicine and family medicine physicians to provide quality healthcare for all.

Now in its twelfth year, the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Graduate Medical Education Department has graduated 111 physicians to date.  Since its inception, 27 of these physicians remained at LCRH and joined the medical staff after completing residency training.  We currently have 23 resident graduates that are still credentialed with Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and provide care on our campus. Currently we have 16 resident graduates that have pursued fellowships in a variety of specialties to include nephrology, endocrinology, rheumatology, geriatrics and sports medicine.  For more information on the residency programs at Lake Cumberland visit gme.LakeCumberlandHospital.com.
